Summer Reliabilityweb.com Reading Recommendation [Joel Levitt]

Summer should include some downtime for relaxation with the family or time on the beach soaking in the rays (use sunscreen).  Taking a break can be a great way to recharge and renew.

It can also be a time to expand your mind by reading and discovering new strategies that you can put to work immediately.  You may find new ideas that can make you and your co-workers safer and more successful.

I reached out to a few of my reliability friends to see if they would share what books they have been reading and I am happy to pass those recommendations to you.

Author, instructor and mind-bender Joel Levitt replied “Trevor Kletz work on safety has been pivotal in my understanding of the relationship between safety and maintenance.”.

If you want to read one of Joel Levitt’s latest books I recommend one that is near and dear to my heart – avoiding death by meetings.

In his latest book Joel outlines clear strategies and tips for managing your meetings for maximum productivity.  Joel will also be delivering this work in a short course at IMC-2013 28th International Maintenance Conference December 9-13 in Bonita Springs Florida so mark your calendar.

Get yourself a budget for books and devote some time for your mind to travel to new destinations.  Gather some inspiration and ideas and then share them with your co-workers.

More maintenance reliability and asset management books are available at http://books.mro-zone.com

After you implement some of the ideas you discover please consider sharing by contributing an Uptime Magazine article, IMC or Reliability 2.0 Conference presentation or post your thoughts on the forums.

Stay tuned for more summer reading recommendations soon.

Happy discovery,

Terrence O’Hanlon
